44-Year-Old Violently Stabs Long Island Neighbor: Police

A man is facing charges after allegedly stabbing and seriously injuring his neighbor during an altercation on Long Island.

The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, when a 59-year-old man walking toward his West Babylon home on Justice Street reportedly became involved in a fight with a neighbor, according to Suffolk County Police. 

During the altercation, authorities say Edward Preston, age 44, stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Preston, who lives on Justice Street, was charged with second-degree assault. 

He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and is set to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
